Rankin County School District is home to nearly 19,500 students and 3,000 employees. The District has 28 schools in eight attendance zones, making RCSD the third largest school district in Mississippi. Pelahatchie Attendance Zone<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\"IMG_8948_NEW<\/a>Pelahatchie High School <\/em><\/strong>is under the umbrella of the Rankin County School District and located in eastern Rankin County in the town of Pelahatchie. Grades 7 \u2013 12 are served with an enrollment of 320 students. The staff consists of 35 certified educators as well as 22 classified support personnel. Fifty percent of the certified staff have earned advanced degrees, and three teachers are National Board Certified.\u00a0\u00a0PHS has been designated by the Mississippi Department of Education as a high performing school for the last three years and was named a Distinguished Title I school in 2010. Pelahatchie was recognized as a National Bronze Medal School By U.S. News & World Report\u00a0in 2012 and again in 2014. In 2013, Pelahatchie High\u00a0School was one of four schools in Mississippi to receive a Silver\u00a0Medal designation from the publication.\u00a0 The school has received 10 PREPS Value Added Awards since 2009 and has been an Energy STAR school since 2012.\u00a0 The school became a Tech-Prep site in 1997 and is currently part of MDE\u2019s High School Redesign initiative adding the ICT1, ICT2, and STEM courses. In addition to the core curriculum offered in math, English, science, and social studies, students at PHS have the opportunity to take courses in art, agriculture, family and consumer science, business, Spanish, drivers\u2019 education and music. AP courses offered include AP English Language and Composition, AP Calculus, AP U.S. History, and AP World History. Dual enrollment opportunities include English, Biology, History, and College Algebra.\u00a0 These are offered on campus in conjunction with Hinds Community College<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n

East Rankin Academy\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\"ERA\"<\/a>East Rankin Academy was chartered by the state in 1969. Classes for grades 1-6 were begun in January, 1970. The junior high was added in 1970-71. One grade was added each year until East Rankin graduated its first class in May, 1974. A kindergarten was added to the school in 1975. A preschool was added in 2003.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Today, property and facilities include: 31 classrooms, two libraries, two science labs, two computer labs, preschool center, art room, choir room, dining hall, activities building, two gymnasiums, football stadium, field house, weight room, baseball field, softball field, soccer field, four tennis courts, and playgrounds. \u00a0ERA is part of the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools.http:\/\/www.eastrankinacademy.org<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
